Geelong players travelled across the region yesterday visiting 80 schools for a fun filled day of football activities.

The objective of the schools program is to involve students in the club and the players in the community. These visits give our players the chance to speak directly to our young supporters on a range of topics including exercise, nutrition, leadership and goal setting. Students also got the opportunity to participate in footy clinics with some of their favourite Cats.

When James Kelly was young he would have loved a visit from some footy players. “When I was a kid we never got an AFL player to my primary school or anything like that, so to actually have a couple of players out here is pretty good for the kids,” Kelly told the Geelong Advertiser. “It’s a really good thing that the AFL and the club do to get out to all the schools”

The school visits, run in conjunction with AFL Victoria, form an integral part of the Cats in the Community Program. The Cats love the opportunity to get involved with our young fans and look forward to visiting schools next week in Colac, Lorne, Winchelsea and Birregurra.
