Geelong closed out its preseason training program with an intense training and running session at St Albans reserve on Thursday.
The Cats open their 2010 season on Friday against Essendon at the MCG, and after Thursday’s hit out the squad will have two days off before starting to prepare for the season proper.
Players were split into two groups and went through match play, drills, and hard running sessions. Around 32 players took part in the session, which also included assistant coaches Nigel Lappin, Blake Caracella and Dale Amos.
A number of players that missed parts of the preseason were keen to show their bets form, with the likes of Marcus Drum, Ryan Gamble, Ben Johnson, Daniel Menzel, Simon Hogan and Nathan Djerrkura all moving freely and without any obvious discomfort.
Cats coach Mark Thompson and skipper Cameron Ling were not present, with both required at AFL house for the annual season launch.
